The Kota Pro adhesive is heat-activated, meaning it remains non-sticky until heat is applied. This gives you full control during setup—position the patch exactly where you need it without premature sticking. Once you apply heat (typically 300–350°F with light pressure for 10–15 seconds), it forms a permanent, durable bond. This professional-grade adhesive is engineered for items that experience frequent contact, like jackets, hats, and bags.
Laser engraving works exceptionally well for logos, text, line art, and solid black designs. Designs with sharp edges and high contrast engrave cleanly onto the faux leather surface. Avoid full-color artwork, gradients, or designs requiring white ink—laser engraving creates marks through material removal or darkening, not color application. Single-color or two-tone designs deliver the sharpest results.
The patch itself is 3" long × 2" tall, but the recommended decoration area is 2.8" × 1.8". This conservative margin ensures your engraved design stays centered and doesn't extend to the edges, where the adhesive and handling zones are most active. Plan your artwork to fit comfortably within 2.8" × 1.8" for the best visual result and durability.
The Kota Pro adhesive bonds to most fabrics and many hard surfaces, including cotton, polyester blends, canvas, leather, jackets, hats, and bags. Test on a small area first if you're applying to an unusual or delicate fabric. Heat application creates the permanent bond, so ensure you can safely apply heat to the target surface without damaging it.
Once heat-pressed, the Kota Pro adhesive creates a permanent bond engineered for durability in high-contact environments. The patch will withstand repeated wear, washing, and handling when properly applied. For best longevity, ensure your heat application covers the full patch area and use appropriate temperature and pressure—this creates the strongest bond and prevents edge lifting.
Vector files (Adobe Illustrator, AI, EPS) are ideal for laser engraving because they scale sharply to any size without quality loss. High-resolution raster files (PNG, JPG at 300 DPI or higher) also work but may show less crisp edges. Provide your design in black or single-color format, keep artwork within the 2.8" × 1.8" recommended decoration area, and indicate any specific sizing or placement preferences.
